A Celebration of Courage: Endeavor Employees Join the Breast Cancer One Survivor Flight

Three Endeavor Air employees wore more than pink this October. As breast cancer survivors, they wear courage, strength, and resilience every day.

Each year, Delta Air Lines selects Delta and Endeavor employees to join the Breast Cancer One flight, an opportunity to celebrate survivors, learn about advances in research, and reflect on their journeys.

This year marked the 20thBreast Cancer One flight, with Endeavor MSP Captain Ambyr Peterson and flight attendants ATL-based Erika Weathers and MSP-based Sara Rose among those selected.

From the moment they arrived in Atlanta, participants were welcomed with pink confetti, hugs, and cheers.

“They really rolled out the pink carpet,” Sara said. “It was such an uplifting experience, and they made you feel truly special.”

The celebration continued after landing in Las Vegas. From a surprise appearance by Tom Brady, Delta Air Lines Strategic Advisor and Brand Advocate, who shared his mother’s experience as a breast cancer survivor, to a poolside gathering and dancing, the weekend provided countless opportunities to celebrate survivorship and build connections.

For Ambyr, one of the most memorable moments was starting a conga line during a musical performance. But beyond the festivities, what she will remember most is the sense of sisterhood.

“It truly felt like a sisterhood of survivors,” Ambyr said. “I felt so empowered and embraced, and being able to give advice to some of the women who were in the middle of their cancer journey was huge.”

While each woman’s path to survivorship looked different, they were united by their strength and determination.

Erika is a three-time breast cancer survivor who was first diagnosed in 2004. After multiple rounds of treatment, she continues regular screenings and now advocates for other patients through the Tigerlily Foundation, providing peer support to women navigating a new diagnosis.

“I keep moving forward and advocate for myself and others,” Erika said. “It’s important for people to know they are not alone in their journey.”

Sara was diagnosed with stage-three breast cancer in 2023. Following a mastectomy, chemotherapy, radiation, and ongoing medication, she returned to work at Endeavor, finding that staying active helped her maintain a positive mindset throughout her recovery.

Ambyr’s journey began at age 34 when doctors initially dismissed her concerns because of her age. Further testing later revealed a tumor, leading to a bilateral mastectomy and a life-changing perspective.

The experience forced her to reevaluate her priorities and inspired her to pursue a dream she had long put on hold. Having always wanted to fly, Ambyr decided life was too short to wait for the “right time.” She made a career change to aviation and eventually became a pilot.

Now 16 years cancer-free, she credits her diagnosis with giving her the confidence to take risks and pursue a path that once felt out of reach.

“It was now or never,” Ambyr said. “I changed my life priorities and had always wanted to become a pilot, so I made sure to do it for myself.”

In addition to celebrating survivors, the Breast Cancer One flight highlights the importance of ongoing research. Delta is a proud sponsor of the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF), and attendees heard directly from researchers about advancements in detection, treatment, and survivorship, as well as the work that still lies ahead.

“It was incredibly meaningful to see firsthand the impact BCRF’s research is making and to learn how donor contributions are helping advance detection, treatment, and survivorship,” Ambyr said.

For Ambyr, Erika, Sara, and hundreds of other survivors, the Breast Cancer One flight was more than a celebration. It was a reminder that every survivor’s story is powered by resilience, hope, and the support of a community committed to making a difference. As research continues to advance and more lives are impacted by earlier detection and improved treatments, their journeys stand as powerful examples of what is possible when courage and progress move forward together.
