With his sights set on becoming a pilot, Liam Weier first joined the Endeavor team in a different role: Flight Ops Intern. Now, the recently-upgraded Captain looks back on his internship experience as a key step in his journey to the flight deck – and to the left seat.
“Everything I was exposed to as an Endeavor intern helped me be a great pilot,” Liam said. “I was able to work with our fleet manager, crew manager, and many others that I still work with today. Our relationships have flourished since, and they continue to help guide me in my career.”
Liam interned with Endeavor from the summer of 2018 through the end of summer 2019. While Liam didn’t gain flight time as an intern, his corporate experience with the Flight Ops team proved to be helpful when it came time to fly. Throughout his internship, Liam gained real-world experience and participated in cohort trips.
“The whole internship experience was great,” Liam said. “I had the opportunity to work on many important departmental projects, and it helped me learn a new side of the pilot operation. Besides the work, my internship cohort took a trip to Atlanta, Ga. to visit the Delta Air Lines headquarters and tour the Delta Museum, so we had some fun experiences, too.”
Intern projects can have an immediate and lasting impact on Endeavor’s operation. Liam worked on several updates and initiatives that are still being used today.

“The first summer I interned, I flew out to Philadelphia to help digitize the weight and balance documents the ground crew would send to the pilots,” Liam said. “My second summer at Endeavor, I led the project of updating Endeavor’s Jeppesen charts. I would visit upgrade and new hire classes to have the pilots try out the pages and receive feedback.”
Liam said the new charts were well-received, and he is proud to see that they are still used today.
“It’s a great feeling when a pilot comments on how much they like the charts, and I get to say, ‘I worked on that,’” Liam said. “It really meant a lot to work on something like that as an intern and see its continued use.”
Through Liam’s Endeavor career, he has gone from the mentee to the mentor. Liam was hired as a First Officer in 2021 and recently upgraded to the left seat.
“When I was a student, I wanted to get involved and gain experience in this field; now, it’s a full-circle moment,” Liam said. “It’s great to be a leader, be a part of a team, and teach newer pilots. I’m thankful to those that took the time to mentor and guide me along the way, so it means a lot that I can give back and help others grow in their career after so many people helped me grow in mine.”

Hear from other recent interns who have received full-time jobs at Endeavor on their experience.
“This past summer, interning at Endeavor was one of the most fulfilling experiences I could have ever had. I interned in Tech Ops Training, where I managed Endeavor’s Learning Management System, audit records and reports, and saw first-hand how Tech Ops relates to the entire operation. I also had the opportunity to network with many industry professionals and travel to Atlanta, Ga., to tour the Delta Operations Customer Center and the Delta Museum.
I was able to quickly apply what I had learned in college to real-world industry operations to contribute greatly to the team. Overall, it was an amazing experience where I learned a lot.”

Endeavor Air gave me a new passion for aviation, and I’m so grateful I get to continue working in this field. I met wonderful friends and mentors during my internship, and I’m lucky to have these relationships as I continue my career. These mentors have provided me with great leadership and advice as I navigate my future.”
