It was just another Tuesday for Robin Wise, as she checked into her doctor’s office for her annual mammogram appointment. But a normal day turned quickly with news of an abnormal result: a small lump was detected in her breast.
“I tell people I had the ‘good cancer,’ if there is such a thing,” Robin said. “I was extremely lucky because it was found so early.”
Although battling cancer is never easy, the Endeavor MSP-based flight attendant was able to say she was cancer-free in a short amount of time. Robin had a lumpectomy soon after, which was followed by radiation appointments five days a week. After a month of radiation, Robin was cleared by her doctors.

“From the experience, I learned that there are a lot of people who care about me,” Robin said. “I hope that women get their mammograms on a regular basis, because you never know what your future can hold.”
Robin was one of two Endeavor flight attendants selected for this year’s Delta ‘Breast Cancer Research Foundation One’ flight. Each year, Delta selects employee breast cancer survivors and fighters for a special charter flight. This year’s trip from Atlanta to Salt Lake City marked the 17th year of this tradition, celebrating those on board who are battling or have battled breast cancer, while providing opportunities to connect with their colleagues about their triumphs and challenges.
The flight kicked off with a sendoff event at ATL airport, where Delta employees lined the jet bridge, handing out gifts, hugs and high fives to the passengers. Special guests included Delta CEO Ed Bastian and Tom Brady, Delta’s new Strategic Advisor.
“Tom Brady looked at me and said, it’s so nice to meet you.’ And I thought, oh my, he looks like he really means it,” laughed Robin. “How can somebody that handsome be that athletic… it’s just unbelievable!”
On board, the passengers were treated to a First Class experience, even starting an in-flight conga line.
“Even in the last row of the plane, everyone was treated like they were sitting in Delta One,” Robin said. “Everyone on this flight was feeling the love and support from each other.”
When the women stepped off the plane in Salt Lake City, they were greeted with a pink carpet, balloons, and another cheering squad. They then celebrated at the Grand America Hotel with a cocktail reception followed by a banquet, where several women shared their breast cancer stories and a cancer scientist joined the event as the guest speaker.
“I had a wonderful time and I feel very honored that I was chosen,” Robin said, who wants to be a resource and support for others battling breast cancer.
“I know there are a lot of people at Endeavor who are going through the same journey, and I want them to know that I am here to talk or be a shoulder to cry on,” said Robin. “To all the women who are batting breast cancer – whether they’re going through it or it’s their mother, sister, daughter or friend – just know that I am here.”
